AGATHA CHRISTIE

Born on September 15, 1890. British author of crime novels, short stories and plays; also of romance novels using the pseudonym of Mary Westmacott. Best-selling author of billions of copies, translated into more than 56 languages. Dame Agatha Christie, another great Woman in History.

With the Sun in Virgo and the Moon in Libra, the energy to refine and discriminate is fueling the need of being appreciated and popular. The Moon in at the Aries Point, this social thrust is going to be brought forward in the most majestic way; she is just going to be liked by the people. But there are some mechanisms of defense, she is not going to open herself to them. We feel a “I know better” type of attitude that is completely displayed by the characters in her work, such as Miss Maple, even though is not a detective, she finds a way to know better and solve the crime!! Saturn is rising just before the Sun; we can expect a profession where patience is much needed. Mercury is peregrine, communication takes precedence! It is very important, we have that Mercury in the 2nd, is disposited by Venus in the 3rd ruler of the Mc; there is a need for a profession where the gain of appreciation is through communication. With the Moon also in the 2nd* there is a need to be in a position for public viewing and evaluation. Mars is semi-square Venus ruler of the Mc, bringing into the picture international publication, corroborated by Mars square Venus… it has to be, it must be.

MARIA CALLAS

Born on December 2nd, 1923 in Manhattan, New York to Greek immigrant parents. A great diva, maybe the first one of the 20th Century. She was one of the most renown opera singers with a voice of that caused many controversies and a fiery temperament. She started to sing at an early age to satisfy the ambition of her mother. She found herself at the top and at the bottom, her life never simple nor conventional.

Sun in Sagittarius on the Asc with the Moon in Virgo, the energy to affect thoughts is being grounded by the need to be correct and exact. There is a need to have a creative outlet. It is said that her mother was extremely oppressive and pathological ambitious and that she was the reason of her starting to sing as a child. Here we find Moon in quintile with Pluto. The quintile suggests creativity and Moon-Pluto and intrusive mother…the intrusiveness is being expressed by the creative expression of the child. There is the suggestion of creative ambition and drive that pushed her into a career of creative communication. Uranus ruler of the 3rd, is in contact with Mercury ruler of the Mc and natural ruler of the 3rd. Venus in Aries Point potential for public projection and recognition for anything pleasing to the senses –art, music, physical beauty*; Venus squaring Uranus giving us the sense of an unique way of communicating, her unique way of communicating. With Jupiter unaspected, final dispositor and ruler of the Asc and the Sun on top of the Asc, we know that the personality is going to be grand, is going to be commanding, there are going to be explosions!!!

AMELIA EARHART

Born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas. A pioneer in aviation, the first woman to try to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

As a child she loved to read and it was until she was in her early twenties that she became interested in airplanes. Used to stand her ground and defying all gender conventionalities, she was the first woman to break many rules in a world very new to all and completely ruled by men. To this day aviation is a world where men are the norm and women the exception.

Sun in Leo with the Moon in Gemini, the energy to be recognized is fueling the need to be bright and seem cleaver and informed. There is a need to prove the self, a sense of aloneness… all those solo flights?! There is a sense of breaking the old with the new, breaking conventionalities, breaking with tradition to accomplish emotional security. There is a great deal of creativity! It jumps from the chart!

We are very lucky; in her case I was able to find exact dates of important events in her life. Let’s do a Solar Arc/Transits/Progressed Moon analysis of life development.

On December 28, 1920 she was given a ride about an airplane. Solar Arc Uranus = Sun, a need to find individuality Natal Saturn ruler of the Mc is being activated by the T Moon and T Mars, the drive to satisfy the emotional need of a profession or career; Second Progressed Moon in sesquiquadrate to Mars. Only 6 days later she takes her first flying lesson. On this date the Moon was squaring the Nodal Axis exactly activating important meetings.

On April of 1928 she received the proposal to be the first woman to fly the Atlantic, the plans became a reality on June 17, 1928. Solar Arc Mercury = Moon ruler of the 4th, mental stimulations about personal needs and how to fulfill them*; Solar Arc Jupiter= Uranus, a big break; Solar Arc Mars= Uranus, tremendous urge for action. On June 16, just the day before the trip Transit Jupiter partile (exact) square to the Sun!! and two days before that on June 14th, Second Progressed Moon semi-squaring and giving another push to Jupiter ruler of the international 9!! And Mars on the 11th!!

On February 7th, 1931 she got married to George Putnam. Transit Saturn (ruler of the Mc) conjoining the Mc exact on February 16, 1931, change is status. Is this a publicity marriage?

On May 20, 1932 she set off from Newfoundland with the intention to fly all the way to Paris, due to technical and weather difficulties, she had to cut her flight short and landed on Ireland. Second Progressed Moon squaring Venus ruler of the Asc exact on the 26th! With Transit Saturn squaring the Asc, Transit Uranus squaring the Mc, and Transit Saturn opposing the Sun. A very active spring/summer of ’32, as a client we would have expected something of great developmental importance.

On January 11, 1935, she became the first person the fly solo from Honolulu, Hawaii to Oakland, California. Solar Arc Mc=Uranus, extraordinary time of life; with Transit Pluto semi-squaring Mars, and Secondary Progressed Moon semi-squaring Mars-Jupiter
7/2/37
On July 2nd, 1937, she went missing during her second attempt at flying around the world.

JULIA CHILD

Born on August 15, 1912 in Pasadena, California. Renown chef, author and television personality. After moving to Paris with her husband Paul Child she fell in love with French Cuisine. Her fruitless endeavour of finding a good cookbook in English drove her to find cooking classes. Her passion and love for French cooking would change her life. Julia's vision and perseverance would make a reality that elusive French Cooking cookbook but this time she would be the author.

Sun in Leo with the Moon in Libra. The Energy to be recognized is fueling the need to be popular. There is a sense of aloneness, an emotional need to be recognized by communicating through the profession with great ambition. Here again we find that signature of idealization; another great example of how idealization in an active pursuit creates the ability to make something out of the dreams and fantasies, how the push or ambition to reach that dream, make these extraordinary women, the theme of this blog, this wonderful WOMEN THAT MAKE HISTORY (but also prevalent in men… that is another blog). There is the drive that moves her, that takes hold of her, a drive to make things perfect, a need for reward of her opinion, her word be respected as intelligent and bright.

JOAN BAEZ

Born on January 9, 1941 in Staten Island, New York to Mexican and Scottish parents. A folk singer and songwriter. Most of her songs deal with political and social issues. Her father was a physicist, the co-inventor of the x-ray microscope and author of physics textbooks. Her mother, the daughter of an Episcopal Priest was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Most of her childhood was spend abroad; her father’s work for UNESCO and all the experiences of her young life really influenced her way of thinking. Her experience with poverty and inhumane treatment of people and animals became “a part of” her. In the US she also experienced racial slurs and discrimination due to her Mexican heritage. Later in life she would be involved with social and civil right causes.

Sun in Capricorn, Moon in Gemini, the energy to manage, deploy resources is fueling the need to be informed. There is a great deal of idealism and with it a need to make things as they should be in the ultimate situation. These idealism is a double edge sword, if the person acts to achieve it, there is no end to what they can achieve but in most cases this inability to accomplish the ultimate stops the person from action… frustration takes hold of the person and nothing happens. Here, the idealization is the drive to powerful transformation through the communication of ideas as to break the status quo.
